So much of the talk these past few days, and really most of the NFL regular season, has been about the type of legacy Peyton Manning will leave behind after Sunday’s big game. Football is a team sport and no one player can win the Super Bowl alone so why give all the credit in the world to a player who has won it, and not give due credit to players who have not won the Super Bowl or only have won it once. Yes, many football fans have forgotten that Peyton Manning already has a Super Bowl win and countless NFL records that may never be broken. At the age of 37 Peyton has overcame 4 neck surgeries and lead his team to the Super Bowl again. A Broncos team who he has only been playing with for 2 seasons.

If Peyton Manning wins the Super Bowl in 2014, will he be regarded as the greatest NFL player of all time? Peyton Manning is one of the most prolific quarterbacks in the NFL from a pure stats perspective. It is no secret that he wins a lot of football games. If Manning isn’t regarded as at least one of the top 3 quarterbacks of all time, the NFL will need to reconsider who they select to talk about these things. We have been fortunate to live in an era where we have seen the Manning brothers own Super Bowl championships after being so competitive for so many years at all level of the game.

Manning has been fortunate to have been blessed with a father who was an NFL quarterback. Archie Manning has mentored two Super Bowl legends in both Peyton and Eli. It will be interesting to see if the Manning football pedigree continues on. The Super Bowl is a special place and the Mannings have forever left their mark on this sacred event.
