Looking for a free Super Bowl betting pick? The New England Patriots are getting set to play the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl. This means it is that time of the year when we take a look at some of the greatest teams in Super Bowl winner history. Also, our top betting picks to bet on Super Bowl 2019. Let’s go!
For years, many football insiders and fans have been cautious about calling the Patriots the greatest team in NFL history. For the reason that they have one less Super Bowl than the Pittsburgh Steelers. Also the Pats are tied with the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys with five Super Bowls. This may change after Super Bowl 53.
Despite the Steelers having one more Super Bowl win, it is ridiculous to question New England’s status as the greatest team in NFL history. Especially now that they will be playing in their ninth Super Bowl since 2000.
The Steelers dominated the 1970s. They won four Super Bowls in the decade. However, they didn’t win their last two Super Bowls until 2005 and 2007. Between their Super Bowl wins in 1979 and 2005, the Steelers missed the playoffs 12 times. The same cannot be said about New England.
Super Bowl Winner History
To put the stats in context, the Patriots have missed the playoffs twice since 2000, and they had winning seasons both times. Those are outstanding numbers!
The 49ers dominated the 1980s and parts of the 1990s. The 49ers won five Super Bowls between 1981 and 1994. This is very impressive to say the least. However, not as dominant as New England’s run since 2000. You can bet on Super Bowl winner 2019 and even for 2020 at BSB.
Another reason the Patriots have the edge over the two most successful franchises in the league is the fact they accomplished their success during the salary cap era. The Steelers didn’t have to worry about their star players leaving in free agency, which allowed them to keep multiple Hall of Famers on their roster.
The 49ers didn’t have to worry about the salary cap for three of their five Super Bowls and couldn’t sustain the success they had in the pre salary cap era.
Even if the Patriots lose to the Rams, they should still be considered the greatest franchise in NFL history because other than the Steelers having one more Super Bowl win than they do, no other team can match the success the Patriots have had since Bill Belichick took over as their head coach.
