The Pittsburgh Steelers went into last season with the second best odds of winning the Super Bowl. However, they were defeated by the Jacksonville Jaguars in their first playoff game. This season, they once again have the second best betting odds for Pittsburgh Steelers of winning the Super Bowl 2019. Odds are (8-1), but they will try to avoid another early playoff exit.

When it comes to offensive talent, the Steelers are the best team in the NFL. Players like Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, LeVeon Bell, and JuJu Smith-Schuster will continue giving opponents fits all season. Head coach Mike Tomlin has to do a better job of keeping them focused if they want to avoid another early playoff exit, which might also cost Tomlin his job.

Last season, before their playoff game against the Jaguars, the Steelers players were more focused on the New England Patriots.  Patriots would have been their opponents if the AFC Championship Game, if they had defeated Jacksonville.

Bell was busy complaining about his contract situation and Smith-Schuster was busy trying to build his brand doing man in the street interviews instead of focusing on their opponent, which had an impact on the result of the game.

After finishing tied with the best record in the NFL last season, the Steelers know they can’t squander another opportunity like they had last season.  They should finish with the best record or second best record in the league this season.

The biggest question mark the Steelers have going into the season is their defense. The team struggled against the run last year. They also lost Pro Bowl linebacker Ryan Shazier to a career threatening spinal injury. They tried to address some of their defensive issues through the draft, but we won’t know the type of impact they will have until the season starts.

If the Steelers can fix their run defense issues and stay focused on getting to Super Bowl 2019, they could get past the Patriots and play for a chance to win their seventh Lombardi trophy.
