Furthermore, the Colts looked impressive in their win over the Houston Texans in the Wildcard round. They defeated their AFC South rivals 21-7. The Colts looked sharp at the beginning of the game, jumping out to a 14-0 lead. However, this forced the Texans to quickly drop their running game.
With the Texans not running the ball, Indianapolis’ defense was able to focus on quarterback Deshaun Watson, keeping him in the pocket and preventing him from killing them throwing on the run.
The Colts will face a tougher task against MVP front runner Patrick Mahomes, but if they can take away the big plays, they should be able to give the Chiefs a run for their money.
The Chiefs are coming off a bye week and will need to quickly get rid of the rust and jump out to a big lead against the Colts. They will also need to get their running game going to keep the Colts from turning all their defensive attention to their quarterback.
Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Odds
Mahomes should be able to throw the ball effectively against the Colts, but he will need to do a better job protecting the ball then he did in final stretch of the regular season, when they split their final four games.
Kansas City’s defense will also need to play well against a Colts team that looked good throwing and running the ball against the Texans. If they can keep Marlon Mack from going off for 148 yards like he did against the Texans, they will put themselves in good position to win this game.
The Chiefs are favored to win this game by six points. The over/under on total points scored is 57.
Kansas City played very well during the regular season, but their defense let them down in some key situations. Expect the Colts offense to have a big game and keep them in a game that will likely go down to the final possession. Take the Colts +6 and the over in this game.
