The Super Bowl is exactly one week away ladies and gentlemen! Although the big question from last week still remains strong, “Can the New England Patriots repeat as Super Bowl Champions?” The short answer is Yes. Allow us to explain below how a hurt Tom Brady and doubtful Rob Gronkowski will not impact the New England Patriots odds of winning Super Bowl 52. The current Super Bowl wagering line has the Patriots favored to win by -5 points.
The New England Patriots are going to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, and once again find themselves as the favorites to win it all.
But the question on everyone’s mind is can the Patriots win the Super Bowl and become the first team since the 2004 and 2005 Patriots to win the Super Bowl in consecutive years.
Unlike the past Super Bowls they have been in under Bill Belichick, the Patriots have a few concerns. The biggest concern is the throwing hand of quarterback Tom Brady, which he injured during practice last week and required 12 stitches.
Even though Brady was bothered by the injury during Sunday’s win, he was able to lead his team to victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Since the game won’t be played for another two weeks, Brady will have plenty of time to rest the hand and let it heal, but if it isn’t healed by the time the game is here, it could be a big problem for them.
Another problem for the Patriots is the status of tight end Rob Gronkowski. Since he was drafted by the Patriots, Gronkowski has been one of Brady’s favorite targets and a big part of their offense.
Gronkowski suffered a concussion in their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, leaving his status for the Super Bowl in doubt. Like Brady, he had two weeks to recover, but concussions affect people differently and he might not be cleared by the time the game comes around.
Last year, the Patriots were able to win the Super Bowl without Gronkowski, but his absence was felt as the Patriots fell behind early in the game and needed a miraculous comeback to win the Super Bowl.
This time around, if Gronkowski can’t play, the Patriots offense will suffer more because they also don’t have Julian Edelman, who was one of their heroes last year and another Brady favorite.
With all their success, it is difficult to doubt Brady and Belichick, but the injuries might be too tough to overcome this time around.
