The Dallas Cowboys Amari Cooper is not focused on his new contract. Cooper is looking to play his heart out first. This and more Dallas Cowboys news coming up.
After trading a first round pick to the Oakland Raiders last season, Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys were hoping he would be the star receiver they needed to make a postseason run. Cooper had an immediate impact on the offense and Jones told reporters that signing the receiver to a new deal was the team’s offseason priority.
With the team now in training camp, Cowboys Amari Cooper still doesn’t have a new deal, but his price tag has apparently gone up with the Saints giving fellow receiver Michael Thomas a $100 million deal, which made him the highest paid wide receiver in the NFL. Talk about new Dallas Cowboys news.
“It was a big contract, yeah,” Cooper said after hearing about Thomas’ deal. “I mean, good for him.”
Despite being in line for a similar contract, Cooper said his focus is on helping the team win the Super Bowl.
“Yeah, I’m just not anxious about the contract,” Cooper said. “For some reason, it’s just not on my mind. I’m more interested in about just playing football.”

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett added that he did not notice any contract talks affecting Cowboys Amari Cooper in the offseason program, and that has continued through training camp.
“He wants to make sure he’s doing everything he can to get himself right to be the best player he can be,” Garrett said. “Obviously, there’s a business side of football. We all understand that, but his focus is what he needs to do on the field to get better. I think he’s embracing the opportunity to be with us through the offseason and through training camp to lay the foundation. Obviously, he was very impactful for us last year, but that was half a year coming midyear.”
