The Seattle Seahawks finished the 2021 season with a 7-10 record, which was good for fourth place in the NFC West and marked the first time they missed the playoffs with Russell Wilson as their quarterback. With the team trading Russell to Denver in the offseason, the Seahawks are in rebuilding mode this season.

Seattle averaged 23.2 points per game last season, which was 16th in the league. They gave up 21.5 points per game, which was tied for ninth.

Russell completed 64.8 percent of his passes for 3,113 yards, 25 touchdowns and six interceptions. Geno Smith and Drew Lock are expected to compete for the starting job. Rashaad Penny led the Seahawks with 749 rushing yards and six touchdowns, while Tyler Lockett led the team with 1,175 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. They acquired tight end Noah Fant who had 68 catches for 670 yards and four touchdowns in the Wilson trade, giving their quarterback another weapon.

Seattle’s offensive line wasn’t very good last season and they will have two rookies staring this season, which isn’t good news for their quarterback.

Defensively, the Seahawks lost Bobby Wagner, who was one of their best players. They signed Uchenna Nwosu in free agency and used five of their first seven draft picks on defensive players. So don’t expect a significant drop-off on defense.

On paper, the Seahawks have a lot of talent and if they get solid play from their quarterback. They will be in the mix for a playoff spot. But, with three teams in the division making the playoffs last season, their chances aren’t very good. So expect a third of fourth place finish for them.

Oddsmakers seem to like their chances of making the playoffs. With Super Bowl 2023 predictions giving them +3300 odds to win the Super Bowl.
