Browns Baker Mayfield Making Waves in Locker Room

The Browns Baker Mayfield drew criticism for comments about Johnson’s trade demand in the locker room. Also, Kareem Hunt is also making waves for the Browns this week. This and more in this Browns news update.

The Cleveland Browns have been in the news all offseason because of the roster moves that they made to drastically improve their team. Of course, this has made them one of the favorites to win the AFC. Also, possible Super Bowl 2020 favorites. While most of the news coming out of Cleveland has been good news, the team got a bit of bad news. This, when running back Duke Johnson told reporters he had asked the team for a trade.

Johnson also addressed the reasons why he wanted out of Cleveland. He told reporters the team promised him a bigger role when he resigned last off season. Also, they didn’t live up to their end of the bargain. Does the Browns Baker Mayfield have a point? To make matters worse, Johnson was also shopped around by the team last season, then they brought in former Kansas City chiefs running back Kareem Hunt, to what was an already crowded backfield.

Even though Johnson had explained the reasons that he wanted out of town, quarterback Baker Mayfield didn’t seem sympathetic to his running back’s plight, claiming it was a self-inflicted wound.

“You’re either on this train or you’re not,” Mayfield said. When asked if the trade request has led to awkwardness in the locker room, Mayfield said it had not. “It’s self-inflicted. It is what it is. It’s not awkward for anyone else in this building.”

Baker Mayfield Wrong?

Mayfield was also asked if he supported Johnson and replied saying, “He’s gotta do his job. He said he’s a professional. I hope he does his job.”

As expected, the Browns Baker Mayfield comments didn’t go down well with his teammates, especially the veterans, who reportedly confronted him in the locker room soon after to let him k ow how they felt.

Jarvis Landry, who joined the Browns last offseason, told reporters that he supports Johnson and hopes everything works out for him.

“I hope he understands and feels that guys are here for him,” Landry said. “Whether he is here or not, that the relationship goes beyond the player, obviously the person as well. I definitely hope he understands that and knows that there are guys that are here for him.”
