It’s official like a referee whistle. With the number 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns selected QB Baker Mayfield. Can Baker Mayfield help the Browns win Super Bowl 53, no thank you. Super Bowl 2019 betting odds for Mayfield and the Browns are currently sitting at 100-1 after the draft.

They say every team has a chance to win the Super Bowl any given year. That seems to hold true for the majority of NFL teams except for when it comes to the Cleveland Browns. It’s been a dark time for football in Cleveland. The Browns come off a 0-16 season and their worst mark in franchise history.

The good news is there’s nowhere to go from here but up. While jokes are easy to make, the Browns do have a promising future with a new front office.

Baker Mayfield

The Sashi Brown era was a complete disaster and joke of itself. Owner Jimmy Haslam made the right decision putting that regime to an end. He finally began to implement a winning culture in what seems like forever. Former Chiefs general manager John Dorsey was hired to the same position in Cleveland along with Elliott Wolf and Alonzo Highsmith. All come from successful franchises and it’s the start of a new era in Cleveland.

Dorsey has his first opportunity to stamp his mark in free agency and the NFL draft this offseason. The Browns are projected to have close to $110 million in cap space and also hold 12 picks in the draft. Two of those picks come in the top five of the first round. Dorsey has been given the blueprint to turn the Browns around and there’s no team that needs it more at this point.

It would take nothing short of a miracle for the Browns to be Super Bowl bound but this is a step in the right direction for one of the NFL’s worst franchises in recent memory. The fact that the Browns are starting to make big moves with their young and impressive talent, should tell everything of the truth. They are ready to start winning games again and that might happen on the biggest stage of them all. Super Bowl 2019!
