The Philadelphia Eagles have been celebrating their Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots all offseason, and received their Super Bowl rings at a ceremony last week.
Carol Cullen, an executive assistant that was fired by former head coach Chip Kelly. This was a couple of years ago. Got an unexpected surprise from the team.
Furthermore, Cullen received an email from the Philadelphia Eagles a month and a half ago. The email said she would be receiving a Super Bowl LII championship ring.
Since she hasn’t been with the team for over two years. She responded to the email saying there must have been a mistake.
“No, it’s not an error,” a team employee replied. “Call me. We need to get you fitted.”
Hence, Cullen, who had been with the team since 1985. Worked with seven head coaches over three decades. But, was surprisingly fired by Kelly in his second season with the team. This was a shock to all. Coach Kelly was known for this.
“Chip just said my job was no longer needed,” Cullen said.

“It was very difficult. I had no idea it was coming, so it was very emotional for me. And it took me a while to get over it and get used to another life, really, because when you work in football like that, it’s not 9 to 5 — it’s seven days a week, and I loved every minute of it.”
Even though she was no longer a member of the organization, Cullen was well respected by the players and staff.
“Great lady. Very deserving. It’s so classy that they included her. Not a lot of organizations would have,” said former head coach Dick Vermeil, who preceded Campbell in Philadelphia and got to know Cullen over the years. “To me it just shows the class from the ownership, right on down through the organization, and how much they respect loyalty.”
“It was really a special night,” Cullen said. “And I just feel honored and humbled that I was a part of it.”
