The Philadelphia Eagles and their fans can breathe a sigh of relief. This after avoiding an injury that could have derailed their postseason plans. Next, Nick Foles injury update and Eagles Bears betting.
In their regular season finale against the Washington Redskins, backup quarterback Nick Foles got injured. Foles led the team to their first Super Bowl win last season. However, he left the game with what looked like a serious rib injury.
At first the injury put his status for Sunday’s Wildcard playoff game against the Chicago Bears in doubt. This meant the team would have likely gone with third stringer Nate Sudfeld. Sudfeld would have been their starter because Carson Wentz has still not been cleared to return to the field. Do Eagles fans have something to worry about? Yes.
On Monday, head coach Doug Pederson told reporters that Foles underwent some tests. Foles was diagnosed with bruised ribs, which means he is medically cleared to play on Sunday.
Even though he will get to start for the team on Sunday, Pederson said they will be careful with him during the week to make sure he doesn’t aggravate the injury.
Nick Foles Injury Update
“We’ll take care of him. Make sure he’s ready for Sunday,” Pederson said.
With Foles expected to start, Sudfeld will back him up against the Bears, which means Wentz still isn’t ready to go.
If Wentz is cleared to play during the playoffs, Pederson will have a tough decision to make regarding his starting quarterback. Even though Foles is the backup, he led the team to a Super Bowl win last season and helped the team clinch their playoff spot this year after Wentz went down with a back injury.
Making a change at the quarterback position this late in the season, especially for a quarterback that has missed the last month might ruin the team’s momentum and cost them a chance to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
The good news for the Eagles and their fans is that they don’t have to worry about it for at least another week.
Bet on or against the Eagles at the above sportsbooks. Eagles offence or Bears defence. Who will shine?
