NFL Week 3 preseason kicks off with Packers at Raiders. The Oakland Raiders will be going for their third consecutive preseason win when they take on the Green Bay Packers this week. The game will be played on Thursday, August 22 at Investors Group Field in Winnipeg. It is scheduled to begin at 8 PM. ET.
Green Bay Packers Analysis
The Packers won their first preseason game against the Houston Texans but were unable to make it two wins in a row when they faced the Baltimore Ravens in their last game. What does this mean for Packers at Raiders? The team struggled offensively against the Ravens and finished with 13 points.
Aaron Rodgers did not play in his second straight game, due to back tightness and there is a possibility that he will miss the entire preseason. Tim Boyle got the most playing time against the Ravens. He completed 12 of 21 attempts for 107 yards and one touchdown. DeShone Kizer finished the game completing 5 of 10 passes for 70 yards.
Green Bay’s defense struggled against the Ravens, especially on the ground where they gave up 171 yards and one touchdown. The team will need to address their struggle against the run if they want to be successful this season. Expect most of the Packers starters to play at least the first half of this game.
Oakland Raiders Analysis
There has been a lot of drama with the Raiders this offseason, but it hasn’t affected their play on the field, which should make their coaches and fans happy. The Raiders were able to hold off the Arizona Cardinals in their last game thanks to a strong passing game that helped them jump out to a quick lead.
Packers at Raiders Pick and Prediction
The Raiders quarterbacks combined to complete 21 of 24 passes for 250 yards and three touchdowns. They were led by Mike Glennon, who went 11 of 14 for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Derek Carr played in only one series and completed both of his attempts for 40 yards and one touchdown. Expect Carr to get more playing time this week.
Oakland’s defense also struggled against the pass, giving up 259 yards and three touchdowns. They played well against Kyler Murray and the first team offense but struggled against backup quarterback Brett Hundley, who completed 10 of 15 passes for 139 yards and one touchdown.
The betting lines for this game are not yet available. The Raiders have played well offensively and are going up against a defense that has struggled so far. For Week 3 preseason Packers at Raiders take Oakland and the over on the game.
