The Broncos got off to a surprising start, winning three of their first four games, which prompted some fans to start looking forward to a potential Super Bowl run. However, the team has lost their last two games to fall to 3-3, and need a win against the Chiefs to reduce Kansas City’s division lead.

Denver’s last two losses have come against a then winless New York Giants team and the Los Angeles Chargers, who had lost four of their first six games.

With games against the NFC leading Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots coming up in the next two weeks, Denver can’t afford to lose this game if they want to give themselves a chance to make the playoffs.

Denver’s defense remains one of the best in the league, giving up 18 points per game, which is 8th best in the league. Their offense on the other hand has been missing in action the past three weeks. Denver has failed to score more than 10 points in three straight games, and got shutout by the Chargers in their last game, which won’t do against a high scoring team like Kansas City.

The Chiefs started the season on a tear, winning their first five games, and were the last undefeated team in the league this year. Since then, Kansas City has lost two straight games, and is also trying to get back in the winning column.

On paper, the Chiefs look like the better team, but this is a bitter rivalry game, which means you can throw the records out of the window when it comes to these two teams.

Kansas City’s offense, which is the second highest scoring in the league, will have to figure out a way to keep Denver’s front four away from Alex Smith, who is having the best season of his career.

If they can give Smith time to throw, he should be able to find holes in Denver’s secondary. If not, it will likely be another long day for the Chiefs.
